Saturdays, December 7-14 | 4-7 p.m.

This open studio style class is designed for students with previous jewelry experience. Come with a familiarity of basic smithing skills, your own jewelry design ideas, and a spirit of exploration! Specific and/or advanced metalsmithing skills will be taught in response to students' original ideas for their projects. Students will have personalized support and encouragement in finding their voice in metal and improving their metalsmithing technique. We will focus on honing basic fabrication skills such as sawing, piercing, filing, forming, texturing, soldering, bezel setting, finishing and polishing. Students will also develop their creative design skills and learn from each other as we reflect on the work together. Six weeks allows time for students to create one or two pieces with complexity or several simpler designs. A variety of silver, copper, brass and cabochon stones will be provided and shared equitably between class members. Students are welcome to bring their own additional materials for larger projects as desired.
